Lightroom Presets

15, December, 2014

Why do we use Lightroom presets are Social Events? There are many reasons, however one of the primary ones is the ability to use Preset alterations in the Develop mode.

One sure thing is that we all have different opinions on what we prefer, it's what sets us all apart. It would be boring if we all thought the same, it may be a safer world, but certainly boring! For this reason in my line of work it is important to be able to give the client what they want. Unlike a commercial shoot where I would be given a brief to follow, with Social Events, we have to second guess the customers needs to make a sale, so I feel it is vitally important to provide choice for my customers. Some will like their images light, some darker, some will like Black & White, others Sepia and so on. Granted most softwares provide this facility, but another important aspect in Social Events is time. Time is of the essence to ensure a free flowing queue of guests, so we don't have the luxury if being able to open an image in another software. This is where Lightroom Presets are heaven sent! With one click, we can apply our own predetermined Preset for any given situation. Below are some of the effects I have created myself for our images. Remember they are only "One Click" from the original and give the customers endless choices in seconds.

Cartoon Black & White

Aged Look

These are a few of the presets we use to give our customers choice at the sales station. Remember, these are all "One Click" from the original, so the time to preview these is minimal. there are plugins available to apply all of your presets in one publish which will create virtual images of the original applying the presets you want applying. This potentially saves even more time.

Other presets I have created and use include Skin softer, desaturate, grunge and instagram
