Social Event Photography Kit Bag - Part2 (Lights)

23, August, 2014

Following on from the last Blog post, this one concentrates on Lights

As I mentioned previously, I use Elinchrom lights and have done for 5 years, in conjunction in the first 3 years with Bowens lights which I have had for about 10 years. A couple of years ago I moved almost exclusively to Elinchrom.

My main lights are 2 of the new ELC Pro 500s which I bought after seeing them at The Photography Show at the NEC Birmingham. These for me are undoubtedly the best lights I have ever used. In the past I have tried Lencartas and Bowens, however for me the Elinchrom ELCs stand out as the best lights I have used. Easy to set up, excellent light emissions and some really funky tricks!!

Other lights in my kit include 2 x 500 BRXs and 2 x D-Lite 2. These are my work horses!

For battery powered light, yes I also use battery powered lights in my Events Studio system, I use my Elinchrom Quadras. they are unbelievably versatile, light and compact. With the adapter they will work with any Elinchrom modifier.

Finally I want to show you the latest addition to my kit....the Westcott - Ice Lights!! These LED continuous lights (or light sabres as we like to call them) are simply amazing. Once agin, with much of the kit I use, they are not only versatile, bit on this occasion....great fun!!

All of the above items are available at The Flash Centre
